Lake Cumberland for fishing report for Jan 20 th 2016. The water temps are in the upper 40's now as winter has finally showed her face. The water is clear on the lower end of the lake and fishing has been pretty normal for early winter fishing. Stripers are pretty active most days in the mid creek sections of the lake. Early in the morning they have been from the surface to 25 ft then later in the morning some fish are being caught down to 50 ft. Alewife herring as always has been the bait of choice. As the water cooks the fish will drop down in the water column because that water will be warmer. Last winter we caught several fish down to 90 ft deep. These fish are lethargic but can be caught with a slow presentation.

Crappie fishing has been pretty good closed cover from 5 to 20 ft deep. The bass fishing has been pretty good also on normal winter patterns. Jerk baits in the cover being the most productive I have heard of.

    God bless
