The Winter Weather can prove to be a "Roller Coaster Ride" as the past few weeks we've had Strong Cold Fronts with North Winds and Freezing Temperatures and then the very next week Spring Like Weather with Gusty South Winds and Temperatures in the 70's! Seems there's always a couple of nice fishable days sandwiched in between the Fronts and these are the days we try and get our Customers on the Lake. This past week, I was able to fish three days (Thursday thru Saturday) and enjoy the mild mornings and warm afternoons. While this was a period of strong South Winds that forced us to stay near the Shorelines and fish the protected coves and creeks, we still managed to catch a few fish, enjoy the lake and basically just get out of the house and enjoy the day!
We continue to fish for Catfish as the White Bass and Crappie are just not be found. I did recently look a bit for the Whites on the Main Lake humps and points where we'll find them in the near future when Spring arrives, but nothing was to be found. Most of the Catfish we've caught recently are Channel Cats with just a few Blues mixed in. Danny King's Punch Bait on a # 4 Treble Hook fished in the timbered coves and shoreline areas is the ticket to a Fish Fry. We're not getting the easy limits we were a couple of weeks back, but still most trips result in a 25 to 30 fish box of good "Eaters" !
February can be a tough month to fish with the lingering Wintertime cold, but pick and choose your day and you can still get on the Lake and catch enough fish for a good Fish Fry! Adam and I have plenty of Weekday openings and even a boat open on most Saturdays this month. Give us a call and Let's Go Fishin'!
