February fishing is always "hit and miss" as far as the Weather, Cold Temperatures and Catching Fish are concerned. However, this February has been more like April with mild mornings, brisk Winds and catching fish in unseasonably warm temperatures. The long range forecast looks like more of the same for at least the next week or so. The Lake Level at RC is at full Pool Level, the water is still a bit stained and the water temperature late this week had climbed all the way to 57 degrees. Again, water temps in the high 50's is almost unheard of in February!
I took the time on Thursday to do a little scouting and looking for White Bass, but with no luck . I believe the Whites and Hybrids have moved up the Creeks in order to do their spawn and with the Creeks now starting to lower will soon move back to the Main Lake. Last year it was a cold March and the fish didn't appear till early April. This year I bet we're catching White Bass in March if we don't get much more Winter!!! Hope so, but until then we'll keep on CATCHING CATFISH!!! We only fished a couple of days this past week, but the results were good with a nice Ice Chest of Catfish on both trips. We've caught all our fish in the backs of Coves on Channel drop offs in 20' FOW. Danny Kings Blood Punch Bait on a #4 Treble Hook was our bait.
A couple of reminders are (1) Our "WINTER DISCOUNT" is in effect thru FEBRUARY, (2) We have LOTS of Weekdays open FEBRUARY & MARCH and even a Saturday or two still open, & (3) SPRING BREAK WEEK(S) is in MARCH and we still have openings.
Give us a call and We'll Go Fishin'! Hope to see you soon!
