BASS
The rain has the lakeand river muddy and pretty tough right now. I have been on a few fishing tripsabove and below the Pickwick Dam lately and while some trips have produced big fish and afew small ones to go with it, some trips have not produced any bass at all butwe are likely to catch some other species. Old grassy areas in the lake arestill producing good fish at times although the grass is pretty much diesdown right now. Texas rigged Strike King Rage Tail in pumpkinseed and green pumpkin Coffee Tubes have accounted for most ofthe fish we have caught in these areas. Black has been a good color for me aswell as green pumpkin. The weather will make bass fishing toughover the next few weeks but this is still a time where you are likely to catchthe biggest fish of the year.

Stripers
I am not doing anystriper fishing trips right now mainly because this is just a slow time of theyear for them. If I was to take someone striper fishing right now I woulddepend on a deep diving crankbait to keep the trip interesting. Although I knowyou can have a good day on live bait andjigs drifting right now, but I would not try it first.
Catfish
After talking to a fewcatfishermen while I was on a sauger fishing trip I was told thatcatfishing has slowed down a lot. The water from all the rainhas muddied the river and really made it hard on all species right nowbelow the dam. Most catfishermen are using worms bought out of bait storesindeep water.
Sauger
I love to eat saugerlike everyone else but it has been a little slow over the last couple of weeks.I have been fishing with a plastic grub on a sauger jig bouncing it in fiftyfeet of water.
