The month of February gave us numerous cold fronts and seas that ranged from almost calm to rough.
Offshore was a mixed bag of a variety of species that included sailfish, kingfish, mahi, snapper, grouper, amberjack, and sharks.
Many of my anglers checked off their first species of numerous species from their bucket lists. Others enjoyed the weather and catching fish on light tackle.
Inshore, the tarpon have finally shown up in good numbers and have been showing themselves by rolling at the surface. They're still not quite settled in and when the tide changes, they disappear. We managed to hook at least one tarpon per trip with our best night being 3 for 3. This will improve dramatically as we move into March.
The surprise has been the number of snook and an even bigger surprise was the cubera snapper we caught.
