Lake Cumberland fishing report for March 11, 2016. The water temp is creeping into the lower 50's in the creeks and pretty clear for this time of year. The spring fishing season is getting started and the spring lions promising on all levels.
The striper fishing has been good most days with fish being caught 20 to 50 feet deep but soon as the water warms just a little the best depths will be closer to the surface. Pulling planers close to the bank most days will be the most productive method but saying that some days open water produces bigger fish. The creeks will warm a little faster than the main lake but as soon as the main lake warms to 50 degrees it becomes very productive. Crappie fishing has been pretty good up the creeks from 5 to 20 feet deep. Also bass are becoming active close to surface most days.
The river bite has been good for me lately. I have been fishing the boils below the dam with dead shad fished with a 1/4 to 3/4 ounce sinker depending on the current. The best of the trout fishing is yet to come with really nice rainbows and Brown trout in the boils.
God bless
