I've enjoyed the outdoors and fishing for as long as I can remember. It was a way of life and still is to this day. Now I run my own guide business and fish tournaments across the country. If your looking for a good, laid back, fun time on the water or some serious learning give me a call or drop me an email. I fish Kentucky and Barkley Lake along with winter trips on Lake Okeechobee.
Sorry for the delay between reports but it has been a crazy busy year guiding on Okeechobee as I've only missed a day maybe two being on the water since the middle of Jan. including many double trips. We've had abnormally high water most of the season with the large amount of rain we endured most of January this has scattered fish a bit since they have some many more places to hide. The high winds the lake has seen has muddy a lot of water also making it a little more difficult to keep finding clean water to fish. As the saying goes they are biting some where and we've had a pretty consistent bite throughout the entire season with good numbers and quality. As normal the live bait bite with the golden shiners has been the best bet overall but that doesn't mean you can't catch them on artificial baits. As we've done really well with the OutkastTackle swim jigs and pitching Big Bite Baits trick sticks around the spawning flats. Pairing both of these baits with some Sunline SX1 braid on a Powell 734 Max 3D rod is a deadly combination on Lake Okeechobee bass. Our crappie bite has remained good as we battle finding clean water to fish. Many are still catching fish on the outside weed line along with vertical jigging up inside the bulrushes and flat reeds. We are also having fun catching them out of the matted vegetation just as if you punchin for bass. I've only got a couple days open in April if you want to get in a trip of a life time drop me a line and we'll get hooked up.
