Lake Cumberland fishing report for March 31st 2016. The water temp is in the mid 50's and clear on the lower end of the lake. The water is lower than normal for spring which has made striper fishing really good. Spring rains have not arrived yet which is great for stable water and very little to no debris to deal with pulling planer boards. We have been very successful fish mid creek to the mouth of the major creeks. We have been fishing from the surface to 30 ft deep. We are catching fish every day in the 30 in range which is great and fish seem super healthy. The lake is full of shad so the future seems really good. Crappie fishing has been good also in the head of the major creeks fishing close to cover 5 to 15 ft deep. I've talked to several people bass fishing also with good success on jerk baits fishing main lake points.
With the lower lake level the river generation schedule is cutting which is making river fishing good but limited to when they are generating. Some beautiful trout have been showing up in boils. I fish dead shad close to bottom in the books with great success.
