WEST POINT LAKE IS .24 FEET OVER FULL, STAINED & 89 DEGREES
Bass fishing is slow and the water is rising fast. Fishing a summertime pattern is the key for the largemouth and spots. The fish are bunched together in 18 to 20 feet of water on road beds, humps and ridges on main lake structure. Crank a deep diving bait across these ledges, roadbeds and humps will produce some great catches. The larger Fat Free Shad and the deep running Strike King baits in shad colors will trigger a reaction strike from some of these big bass. Big baits are best this time of year. Carolina rigged worms in large 10 inch sizes in dark colors are best.
Crappie fishing has slowed with the hot water. The best fishing is under the bridges at night using lanterns in 8 to 10 feet of water. Best baits are minnows and jigs. The bridge at Hwy 219 is best. You can see the feeding times daily with a Data Sport Fish and Game Forecaster on our web site.
