    Gulf Stream Fishing Report!
Well, let’s forget about the fishing part and just talk about catching!

Captain Garrett Ross and Tyler Deal are holding a nice black fin tuna. Rumor has it that this fish just might break the current Georgia state black fin tuna record!

Captain Ryan Howard Vindicator along with angler Tyler Deal caught a black tuna that weighted in at 40.5 pounds while trolling the blue waters of the stream. All that is left to say now is “Congratulations to all of those involved!”

Great looking fisherman meets up with a beautiful genuine red snapper!

Gordon Gnann is holding up a nice genuine red snapper that he caught while bottom fishing at the Savannah Snapper Banks with Captain Ken Kennickell of Miss Judy Charters!

    Honeymoon Reds!!!!!!!
While inshore fishing with Captain Matt Williams the past week, Nancy and Jeff Yow has a great fish catching day!
Please meet newlyweds Nancy and Jeff Yow!

Jeff and Nancy Yow are showing off their nice inshore catch! Let’s see, what’s on the cleaning table.. Spotted sea trout, red fish, and a flounder. All this boils down to a Grand Savannah Slam! Oh, I almost forgot to mention, Nancy did catch the biggest and the most fish!

    Inshore fishing report…

It’s time to be a fish watcher!

The past week proved that we are having strong spotted sea trout bite.
Some really nice fish are being caught and release. As far as bait..the best ticket to this ride is going to be live shrimp. However, in some cases you can purchase or catch any. I have always said, “If you can’t get live shrimp neither can the fish!” The second best bait is going to be mud minnows. They work great for bait especially when the shrimp are anywhere to be found. If you have to go artificial I suggest using shrimp patterns, because some of these baits look just like the real thing. Believe it or not, but some of our customers caught large sea trout while fishing on the bottom with dead shrimp!
There was more activity the past week. Our customer caught bonnet head sharks, Atlantic sharpnose sharks, spinner sharks, and 100 pound rays. Yes, all were caught fought and released! Just so you know all you have to do is look and you can see a lot surface activity! And where you see birds feeding, no matter where, I suggest giving that area a try. It’s time to be a fish watcher!

While on their honeymoon Nancy and Jeff Yow decided to do a little inshore fishing! And they had a wonderful time while fishing with Captain Matt Williams of Miss Judy Charters. Jeff is holding a nice red fish that Nancy caught! I love it when a fish catching plan comes together! She catches it and he holds it!

Captain Tommy Williams took out a group of members from the Wounded Warrior Project and believe me these guys could fish! They kept these fish and released the rest! It was one of those inshore days where they left them-a-biting!
    Bobby Tallarico inshore fishing team!

While fishing with Captain Matt Williams, Captain “Little” Tommy Williams and Captain “Big” Tommy Williams the Bobby Tallarico had quite an inshore catching day!
    Daufuskie Island South Carolina!

Another great secret located on the coast! Now this is not a fishing trip it is a seeing trip! It is a must for anyone! For all the grand details I suggest giving Captain “Gator” Gary a call 912 604 1587. He can set up transportation to get you there, golf carts, touring, and dinning! It is a great place and it is only accessible by water! So therefore it is a twofold kind of a situation, because the boat ride is also very interesting!

    Inshore Fishing!

Captain Big Tommy Williams and Jerry Moore are holding up a next set of spotted sea trout. Jerry booked Captain Tommy’s boat for a morning of fishing. As soon as he got back Jerry said, “We couldn’t have caught anymore fish even if they just jumped in the boat!”

Captain Big Tommy Williams of Miss Judy Charters found the fish, caught the fish, and then as you can see brought them home! Jerry Moore, a blast from the past called and booked an inshore trip. His only request was to make sure that there wasn’t any fishing drama meaning it was just enough being out on the water and any catching was a bonus. Well, after hearing Jerry request I already knew that that his fish day was going to be a success!

    Inshore Red Fish!

Captain Garrett fisherman extraordinaire! On his way home from an inshore charter…Captain Garrett stopped and pitched a few. He caught this nice trophy red fish in around 2 feet of water.

    Tybee Island Surf Report
    Whiting and Pompano!

Glenn Conway our surf fishing specialist says, “It is time to do a little fishing!” Check out these nice pompano and spotted sea trout.

    Hey Judy,
I found some time for fishing this past weekend. My target species for this weekend was supper and I’ll tell you Judy, I was not disappointed. Let folks know that the surf has come alive with activity, birds are diving and bait fish are jumping. Water temperatures are now past 70 degrees and fishing should be great until the surf water temperatures pass the 80 degree mark. Here recently, we have had a nice string of both weaker tide swings and lighter winds which has our beach water green and clean. I was armed with very fresh local shrimp when I hit the beach Friday afternoon (4-29). My plan was to fish the top of the tide on down and then again on Saturday morning I gave it a try on the incoming tide. Woo Hoo Judy, the delicious Pompano and the BIG bull Whiting are in the surf and hungry. I did well during both of my trips to the beach. The action was steady each day and at times it was all I could do to keep two rods baited and casted. I hooked up on fish just about every cast. I had many doubles, mostly with average sized to small Whiting, but other fish hitting the sand were some Bluefish, small Rays, annoying pup sharks, and assorted other fishes. The best part of it Judy was a showing of the Pompano, Mmmmmn good eats for sure, and even better, Georgia does not have a size nor creel limit on these tasty creatures. I tossed back 20-25 decent Whiting over the two days and some of the smaller sized Pompano. I ran out of bait early on Saturday and had to leave um’ biting, dang it.

For those that have never eaten Pompano, man Judy, are they good! So good that down in Florida, when you can find the Pompano for sell they fetch prices per pound higher than filet’ mignon! Here on the Georgia coast we get a run of Pompano in late spring (now) and again in early fall (Oct). The Georgia surf isn’t known for Pompano fishing but if you target them and have a bit of luck they are catchable. The best bait for catching Pompano are Sand Fleas, but since Tybee’s beach is re-nourished every seven years, we don’t have any Sand Fleas on our beach, so very fresh peeled shrimp is what I normally use. Other good baits for Pompano are pieces of clam or crab knuckles. Pompano are mostly site feeders so clean water is important. They like to feed in the surf where the waves are breaking so be careful not to cast too far out or you might be out of the feeding zone. I like to use smaller circle hooks for them as their mouths are small and in addition I add small colored beads just above the hooks for additional attraction. After casting out and my surf anchor digs in I like to leave a little slack in my line so my bait offering rolls in the surf, this presentation mimics Sand Fleas being churned up by the waves, their favorite food. When a Pompano bites they tend to hit hard and run. This is where those circle hooks work well and Judy this is a fish that puts up a strong fight for its size. But remember ya’ll and don’t horse them in, they have soft mouths and it’s easy to pull the hook. I can’t count the times I’ve lost good ones in the wash. Now is the time Judy for anyone wanting to catch the best eating fish around, a remember DON’T fry um’. Baked, grilled, broiled, pan seared, or smoked with very little seasoning is the way to go when cooking the Pompano.

    Talk to you later, Glenn

This rigging addition makes sense, because it brings fish to your hook! And as all fishermen know, anything that speeds the hooking up process is a big catching plus!

Captain Judy’s custom bottom rig, rigged with the Electron Fish Attractor! Yes this picture is a little blurry and that is exactly how I want it! Soon, I know I will have to show you more, but for now I am skirting this issue!
