LAKE OCONEE IS FULL, 85 TO 90 DEGREES

Bass fishing is fair. The lake is full and stained on the north end and then clears in Richland Creek and on the south end. There is a top water bite at daylight. Use a chartreuse and white Ol' Nelle buzzbait along the sea walls and rip rap. This bite will not last long. Next, move to the deep water docks and the humps on the south end of the lake. A Normans DD22 fished off the humps, I like a shad pattern or black and silver in clear water. A Carolina rig will also pick up fish. As for the deep dock fishing use a shaky head and fish it as far under the dock as you can get it.

Striper/Hybrid fishing is fair. There are some schooling going on all over the lake, early and late in the day. A popping cork with a 1/4 ounce jig or a white Rooster Tail has been working on the schooling fish. Some fish are coming on the mid lake humps with a Captain Mack’s jigging spoon. Use your Lowrance to locate the school and then drop your spoon down to the fish.

Crappie report by Mark Smith Reel Time guide service. Phone 404-803-0741

Crappie fishing is very good. Use your Lowrance to locate the schools in the timber from 10 to 20 feet deep and then drop you live minnow down to the fish. You will need to be right on top of the school to catch them. They will not leave the tree to feed.
