Its ledge season here on Kentucky Lake, and it’s been a good bite. I always love this time of year. You can get a school of bass into a feeding frenzy! I am fishing a lot of secondary ledges right now on the main lake. This seems to be some of the better schools. My primary baits have been a ¾ ounce football jig green pumpkin colors with a ZOOM Z craw also in green pumpkin. My second bait is a ZOOM Ole Monster worm in water melon candy and green pumpkin. I am casting it on a Pro Tungsten ¾ ounce weight. I never use any weight any lighter than a ¾ ounce because I can identify the mussel beds better with the heavier weight, when I come across them. Only time I will go light is when I am drop shotting or using a shaky head. I am cast the worm and jig with a 7’4” Lews rod and reel spooled with 15 lb test Seaguar fluorocarbon. I am also catching some quality bass on a deep running crankbait Lucky Crafts SKT Magnum 120 in Aurora Shad and Flat CB D20 in Ghost Pro Blue. I am fishing them on 15 and 12lb test fluorocarbon. For me these baits have been producing the best right now.
If they are not pulling much current I am fishing a shaky head with a ZOOM Trick worm in june bug and green pumpkin. If I can get a couple fish to bite I can usually then switch to the jig and catch more fish.
