LAKE HARTWELL IS FULL, CLEAR, 80’S

Bass fishing is fair to good and there is a good early top water bite. Zara Spooks and the Gun Fish lures are working on points and humps until 9am. Might get a few hybrids early too. Keep moving all morning and cover lots of water. The river fishing is a little better mid day. Small top water lures early and late on the banks is barely fair. After the sun gets up, it’s tough to get a strike. The best bet is to go up river and throw white trick worms on main lake points. Use small top water prop baits in chromes will draw small fish, but run and gun. As soon as the sun is up the fish head to deep cover. The river fish are a little more active on the river ledges. Small jigs and dark worms right on the ledges at 6 feet can draw a strike. A small 1/4 ounce jig and plastic or pork trailer in black and blue can catch bank runners. Small shad crank baits will get a strike. A watermelon seed worm is fair. Down lake the bass are on the main lake and secondary creek points. Shad Raps in the #5 shad black back on points all day can be productive, but run and gun.
