The water is close to summer pool again and that’s pulling the fish back out. This week I’ve done a couple different things to put bass in my Nitro! I am able to catch a few fish shallow early in the morning on top water, spinnerbaits, frogs and buzzbaits. But it doesn’t last long.

The best bite for me is still on ledges, but it seems to be better on secondary ledges. With the high water we had last week it spread the bait out all over the flats and creeks. It depends on what the bait does that will depend on where the bass go. My best advice is fishing the secondary ledges, ditches on the flats with gravel bars and deeper channel banks in the creeks. We really don’t have that much grass growing due to all the high water over the winter, so the bait is just roaming.

Bait selection for me has been still ZOOMs Mag Ole Monster worms with a ½ ounce Pro Tungsten protungsten.com, a ¾ ounce jig green pumpkin/purple, ZOOMs Z3 Swamp Crawlers and ZOOMs Z drop in morning down. When there’s some wind or real early in the morning I can catch some fish on a Lucky Craft RTO 3.5XD in MS Crack and aurora citrus. .I have been using a couple custom colors Bag5baits.com has came out with on my Lucky Crafts is sexy Splatterback and Sexy Splatterback Chartreuse.

Rod and line selection I am fishing the worm and jig on a Lews 7ft 2 Custom lite speed stick and high speed reel, with 15lb Seaguar Fluorocarbon line. The drop shot I am using a Lews 6ft 10 custom lite spinning rod, with a braid main line and 8 pound test fluorocarbon leader. When fishing the Lucky Crank crank baits I prefer a 7ft 6 or longer crank bait rod and I will use 12 to 15 lb fluorocarbon, but usually 12lb test.

This is a great time of year to take my on the water ledge and electronics class
