Captain Matt Williams of Miss Judy Charters showed Dustin Dye Little Rock AR the catching way!

Tarpon have arrived and so have the sharks that feed with and on them! Tarpon in this area can be as big as 200 pounds! Now that is a big fish! They have arrived in our sounds following and feeding on the increased amount of pogies also known as menhaden. The best bait when targeting tarpon is menhaden! And you will also encounter a serious shark bite too!! No matter what if it is big fish, big pulls, and long fights that you are looking for now is the time! You next move would be….Your boat or one of ours!!

Red fish, spotted sea trout, flounder, whiting, and sharks!

Yes there is a bite be had when targeting all of these fish. However, since the water is so warm the best news is that when one particular fish doesn’t bite you just move on to another species. Some red fish are too big to keep while other is just the right size, which means between 14 to 23 inches! As far as spotted sea trout bite…there are lots of bites to have and some don’t exactly make it to the 14 inch tail length to keep. However, when the fall fishing season arrives so will the legal spotted sea trout.

While fishing with Captain Matt Williams of Miss Judy Charters David Suleman and his mother Mary Prickett or Atlanta Georgia had a great catching time!!

While fishing with Captain Matt Williams Brent Dye Newnan, Georgia and son Dustin Dye Little Rock, AR had one heck of a catching day!

Captain Garrett Ross is showing us a big thumbs up! His wife Liz is showing a Jack Crevalle catching kind of a smile!

    Artificial Reefs

    Trolling
Top water fish such as king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, and barracuda can be found lurking in these areas. Trolling with Clark (0 or 00) or Drone spoons (11/2 to 31/2) is the way to go especially if you want bites to happen!
    Bottom Fishing!

As far as bottom fishing, well it can happen, but not a lot of the black sea bass are legal to keep, but still lots of fun to catch. Black sea bass has to be 13 inch tail length to keep and have a bag limit of 5 per person.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun-a-Fishing! (and they certainly did)

I had the pleasure (Captain Judy) of taking these 10 ladies fishing this past week.
Believe me, if only all my charters would come on board with this attitude. So here’s how it went…Firstly the ladies meet up somewhere every couple of years. It seems all of this traveling started as a result of the husband’s deciding to do the same thing. So all in all, all parties seemed to be happy at the same time. Some of their husband’s do a little hunting in Canada and then the ladies go somewhere in the summer months. This year we, Tybee Island Georgia was their destination! They rented a big house, which had all of the amenities from a swimming pool to everything that ladies need to help make their vacation a success! However, after spending time with 10 of these ladies (there were a total of 14) I found out that as a group they would and could have fun just about anywhere! This brings me back to why I wish more of my customers would come on board with this same happy attitude. They came to catch fish, have a good time, and whatever happened, happened. Well, they had a great time, caught lots of fish, and some they could keep while other fish were released. They ended up with enough fillets to have one heck of a fish feast!

As you know the water is hot and most case does slow the fish bite! These are things that we all know for a fact. However, for you non-believers it now would be the time to give the ultimate bait and lure enhancer a serious chance! Order now! After all what do you have to loose??????

    Daufuskie Island South Carolina!

Another great secret located on the coast! Now this is not a fishing trip it is a seeing trip! It is a must for anyone! (Local or not!) For all the grand details I suggest giving Captain “Gator” Gary a call 912 604 1587 or email jgaryhill@gmail.com. He can set up transportation to get you there, golf carts, touring, and dinning! It is a great place and it is only accessible by water! So therefore it is a twofold kind of a situation, because the boat ride is also very interesting!

Who is? Captain “Gator” Gary is a photographer, naturist, historian, teacher, writer, videographer, graphic designer, a navigational wizard when it come to operating unmanned aircraft, (drones), specializes in aerial photographer, and a columnist (currently with Southern Tides Magazine, pick up a copy today) In the May/June 2016 issue of Chatham Isles Captain Gator was titled a Renaissance Waterman! The bottom line…a darn interesting as well as talented person!

“Little Miss Judy’s Believe It Or Not”

Captain Steve “Triple Trouble” Steve Howell and Captain Judy Helmey!

    Gold Medallion Home

I grew up Wilmington, which is located in Savannah Georgia. My parents moved on to the island during the late forties. The island areas weren’t too much in demand for city much less country folks. Most of the traveling to the island was on dirt and partially paved roads. There was another problem you had to cross over two rusty metal bridges that made a lot of noise and seem to shake a lot. At any rate some families loved it while others just could not.

I for one loved it. As a small child my back yard was a creek that was full of interesting things to look at and play with. When I turned the age of five my father bought me a wooden rowboat and I thought I was in heaven. I wasn’t allowed to go too far, but heck being able to go just cross the creek was fine with me. As I got a little older, the island residents grew. People were living on both sides of the street. I guess I should explain that statement. The side I lived on was call the creek or riverside and the other was the inshore side of the road. The inshore side of the road consisted of newly built homes, mostly made of brick. In fact they were called “Gold Medallion Homes!” Our side of the road had homes that were built years before. They weren’t as nice and modern as those new homes that were built on the other side, but my home was still great to me.

Our island finally grew enough in population and we even got our own elementary school, which I attended. It was called “May Howard.” School was a lot of fun due to the fact that there was kids my age to play and spend time with. As usual when things get good, problems seem to arrive with them. I would always ask my new friends to come to my house, but I got more no’s than yes’s. The problem was a simple one. We had snakes, gnats, mosquitoes, and foul smelling mud, which I thought was wonderful. However the other side of the street didn’t have much of this stuff to deal with. However, I do believe that those children would have enjoyed, because the ones that were allowed to come and visit had a great time. All of the residents from my side of the street came from the “dirty old river.” All I can say now is, “Look Who is Laughing Now!”

When I was very young I remember asking my father, what exactly was a “Gold Medallion Home?” His answer was a simple one. Honey, “each house has a doorbell switch with a light in it.”
