BASS
Bass fishing can always be hit or miss, but last week was a hit. Getting out early produced a lot of fish on a top water bait. After that we caught several on a Strike King series 3 crankbait. If you like to catch big fish in deep water you might want to try a plastic 10" Iguana made by Strike King. We caught all our big fish on the 10" Iguana last week in 15-20' of water.
Stripers
I had several trips last week and the most productive fish we caught were stripers and they were very productive. We caught several in the morning and several in the afternoon and some throughout the day. There are plenty of small stripers in the river right now because you can easily find them in different areas of the river busting the surface. You can catch these a few different ways. The easiest way I have found to catch them is to use a small top water bait. The Strike King Premier "Spit N King" works great and it has a feathered tail hook that has always seem to attract stripers. We caught a number of big fish on deep diving crankbaits in the current. Most of the bigger stripers were caught under the power line crossing between the dam and the boat ramp.
Catfish
Catfishing slowed down around below the Pickwick Dam where I have had the best luck over the past month. I started moving downstream and started catching more fish drifting in the current. I had been catching fish on worms and cut bait, but the live bait got harder to find. I tried Dyna-Bites in Catalpa Worm flavor and in shad flavor and it worked out well for me. We caught several catfish drifting the Dyna-Bites in 20-25' of water. I like to fish the Dyna-Bites on a size 1 hook with a medium action rod with a once sinker if possible.
