THIS IS MY 200th EDITION OF MY CUMBERLAND LAKE/RIVER STRIPER FISHING REPORT!
Greetings to my readers! I hope that the world finds you and your family doing well!
It is hard to believe that this is my 200th edition of the Cumberland region fishing report! Although my dad started bringing me to Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow over 50 years ago, my love for the region has never wavered.
A special shout out and thanks to my publisher Peter Malony, owner of Fishin.com!
In the last 13 years, it has been my pleasure to share with my readers the wonderful resources of Lake Cumberland and more recently of the Cumberland River and Dale Hollow. Throughout these reports, I have spent literally thousands of hours “pecking away” at the keyboard as I attempted to share my (still learning daily!) experiences and knowledge of my years fishing these fabulous waters. This has included over the years techniques including but not limited to:
· How to read your electronics
· Live bait multiple techniques
· Catching bait videos
· Trolling techniques with Captain Jim Umbrellas and hair jigs
· Casting to schooling fish
· Month by month as to where the fish should
· Safety presentations
And much more… My Striper Fish like a Pro DVD trilogy training series was filmed on Lake Cumberland as well.
I hope you readers have enjoyed what I have put out there for you to read and that it has helped you. I must admit that over the years I did get flack from some for “sharing” so much “how to” information. But I have always believed that there is enough fish out there for everybody!
As I prepared this 200th edition of the Cumberland region fishing report, it caused me to look back and reflect over the last 13 years since I began writing the report. So many great memories and photos!
See below a photo of one of my early guide boats. For my clients that have been with me for a long time, they will remember this boat! It served me well for years, only to be eventually purchased by one of my guides Larry Ulmer (we grew up together in Louisville) who then himself guided out of it for many years.
Below is a photo from 13 years ago in 2003 with StriperFun guide Larry Ulmer holding an April Striper (my Larry how you have aged – LOL)!
Then see below, my personal best Striper caught from Lake Cumberland. I was on my day off basically relaxing with only one line in the water and KABAM!
Other guides who have worked with StriperFun over the years (and still do!) and from whom I have learned so very much are:
Jack Ousley
Jack has a world of knowledge when it comes to the Cumberland Lake and River fishing. I have learned so much from him!
Steve Ousley
Steve Ousley has also imparted so much good information and has been a strong influence on me.
I also want to say a brief thanks to my friends Lance Sasser and Victor Vandivier, great guides of their own accord, who have openly shared techniques with me.
I want to also thank all of my loyal readers for being a part of the process as the years have flown by! Many of you have turned out to be loyal clients, both booking fishing trips as well as buying all of the available products (lures, bait tanks etc.) from the StriperFun online store.
Lastly, I want to thank my wife for putting up with all the long and odd hours involved with these reports. Her feedback is always used in these reports and there is some of her in here too!
May our Lord bless and keep you and yours and may you have straight lines and blue skies!
