    WEISS LAKE IS AT 1 FOOT 5 INCHES BELOW FULL POOL AND CLEAR AND 84-86 DEGREE'S



    Bass fishingis Fair and the bite is getting slow with all the hot weather and lack of rain,most bass are on deeper cover, under deeper docks and on the creek and riverchannel ledges, humps and submerged road beds, they are being caught on mediumto deep running crank baits, 1/2 ounce spinner baits, carolina rigged plastics,and jigs, the top water bite is fair on deeper banks and sea walls early andlate. Some fish are still being caught shallow, around grass on deeper banks.20 plus pound stringers have been winning the tournaments all year, The Bassfishing on Weiss Lake, rivals Lake Guntersville for the last 2 years. The WeissLake Improvement Association and Weiss Lake Anglers, will be stocking FloridaStrain Largemouth this fall.
    Crappiefishing is Fair and most fish are on the main Coosa river channel ledges, in12-16 feet of water on cover, and they can be caught spider rigging withminnows. Night fishing is good, under lights and over structure, a lot of fishare being caught under docks in the upper Chattooga River , shooting jigs.

    Striper fishingis Fair and they are being caught in the lower Chattooga River, at the CaveHole in Little River and Little Spring Creek, down lining and flat lining liveshad 8-10 feet deep in the river channel.

    Catfish arebiting good in the flats on cut bait.

    The rain over the past week has cooled the water a little, and put some oxygen back in, some Bass have moved shallow. and the Crappie are starting to bite better. Look for the fishing to start getting really good again with the first cool front in September.
