    Pickwick Lake Elevation 413.5
    Water Temp. 85
    Bass
This is a good time of year to go fishing. The weather is nice and the fish are biting. If you do not like to get out real early I have good news, the morning bite is not so important right now, in fact I am catching a lot of fish throughout the day the same way you would normally catch them in the morning hours. There a certain points and flats on the lake that you can catch bass on top water baits all day. Today most of my fish were caught on a shaky head jigs with a Strike King Rage Tail plastic crawfish. This blue crawfish has a lot of action when moving through the water. I mainly fished it weedless through patches of grass.
    Stripers
The larger Spit N King is accounting for a lot of the top water fish just downstream from the Botel just below Pickwick Dam. The Strike King Shadalicious has accounted for a lot of good fish shallow and deep around the Pickwick Dam. On some of my recent trips we have boated over 20 stripers and the average weight has been 7 pounds. On a good day several will be over 10 pounds. Current is critical so keep in mind if the dam is not generating you might want to plan on fishing for something else.

    Catfish
A lot of bank fishermen have told me they are having good luck on nightcrawlers. While fishing in deeper water from a boat cut bait and turkey liver seems to be the big producer of catfish right now. There is a lot of love bait options just North of Pickwick Dam at a place called the Outpost. They also have ice and good barbecue and really friendly workers!
