Alli DeYoung 1st Place Winner!

Please meet Alli DeYoung of Savannah Georgia 1st place winner of the Labor Day Savannah Yacht Club kids fishing tournament. Where did they fish? They all fish off the docks at the yacht club. While using frozen shrimp they caught a lot of pinfish, croakers, whiting, and stingray. A big congratulation goes out to all of the young fishermen and of course Alli for being the first place winner.
Alli is no stranger to fishing and has been doing it quite a while. She fish’s offshore with her father Dan and I know for a fact they do quit well in the catching arena. Heck, Ali and her father chartered my boat for a 10 hour snapper banks trip. And the duo successfully caught with little instruction everything from red snapper to amberjack to white grunts to vermilion to sharks as well as all sorts of different bottom biters.
Fishing, Catching, Engaging, Hunting, and Flying helicopters! This is a match that was certainly made in heaven!

While fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters LTC Andrew M. Beyer (Fort Riley, Kansas) and CPT Jessica K. Riley Fort Knox, Kentucky) had quite a fish catching time. Both are sharing the weight of this nice size jack crevalle, which Andy caught while using a secret style artificial lure. Now here’s a story worth telling... both are US Army helicopter pilots, both love to fish, and both love to hunt! While hunting doves this past week, Jessica found diamond ring at the bottom of her box of shotgun shells and it was about that time that Andy asked her the big question! And what did she say, well of course, Jessica said a Big Yes! Now this is what I would call a great southern hunting, fishing, and engaging kind of vacation! And both Andy and Jessica said, “We had a great time with Captain Garrett and look forward to coming back in the future!” And we can’t wait to see them, who knows; maybe we will see them on their first anniversary! Some say it is all about paper while others say it is all about fishing!

Please meet the Perkins family...Sally Perkins her son Benjamin and daughter Sally of Savannah Georgia they booked an inshore trip with Captain Garret Ross of Miss Judy Charters...and yes they accomplished their goal of Sally catching her first fish ever and Benjamin catching his first slot red fish...and the best news as it was bigger than his father’s!


Sally Perkins is holding her daughter Helen’s (age 4) first fish ever! And there is no denying that Helen is excited about her grand accomplishment! All are from Savannah Georgia and they were inshore fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters...

Helen Perkins (Savannah, Georgia age 4) second fish ever! This is what I would call “The I just caught another fish stance and I am on a serious catching roll!” The family booked Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters so as to do some great fun family inshore fishing...and it all worked too! A big congratulation goes out to Helen for not only catching her first but also her second fish. And of course to her brother too! Benjamin’s also caught his first slot red fish!



Happy Fish Catching Birthday to Gabe Lee

Gabe Lee 9 year old Swainsboro Georgia along with his father Wes chartered Big Captain Tommy Williams of Miss Judy Charter’s to do a little inshore fun fishing. When Wes called to book the trip here’s what he said, “My son Gabe just turned 9 years old and all he wants to do is to try and catch a shark for his birthday!” Well, I said, (Captain Judy) “I know the prefect captain for this job!” So I called up Captain Tommy and we made plans. I mean it wasn’t a sure deal, because if it were fishing would be called catching! But as you can see from the picture above that Gabe did indeed catch a nice shark and yes he was happy about it too, because he sporting a great fish catching smile! Congratulations Gabe and Happy Birthday from all of us over here at Miss Judy Charters!
Artificial Reefs
A few king mackerel are being caught at the artificial reefs located in more than 50 feet of water. Another place to stage a king mackerel trolling or live lining event is around schools of bait fish. Believe me if there are bird flying over there most likely is fish feeding under. What you got to lose besides your bait?









Savannah Snapper Banks

Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters is holding up a nice scamp grouper that Shannon Player of Savannah Georgia caught while regular bottom fishing....what do I mean by regular fishing? Well...
While bottom fishing with small pieces of cut squid and on our last drift at the Savannah Snapper Banks...Shannon said, “I am going to catch a big one!” And this is as you can see from the size of this scamp grouper SHE DID JUST THAT! And this is just about when we all broke into our last happy catching fish dance for the day!


I call this fishing with a side of catching!
A good friend of mine Chris Newton hit it on the head when he described the bottom bite at the snapper banks as “Slow, methodical fishing!” And indeed it was, I mean you would mark fish, drop down to the bottom as well as work the up water column and hits just don’t happen. And when you do catch one nice white grunt, one super size vermilion, one green head black fish, one nice size scamp grouper you have to wonder what the heck? I call this lots fishing with a side of catching!

Gulf Stream Fishing!

Trolling can be interesting and sometimes proves to be the right thing to do. During this time of the year large Wahoo can be found from 140 to 25 feet of water. They normally always have feeding on their mind. So with that small bit of information I suggest giving high speed trolling a try! After all if that fails you can always stop, drop, and catch some nice bottom fish!
