Bass
As I mentioned last week grass beds are accounting for most of the bass that I have caught for the past few weeks. Besides the grassy areas main lake points are top producers for me using the Strike King series 3 white crankbait. If you get out early or if its cool and cloudy fish a Strike King Buzz bait or Spit N King around points, flats and grassy areas. Still during morning hours I've caught bigger bass in deeper water on a Strike King 6XD, I've also thrown the bait in 8-12' of water and caught some really nice bass.
Stripers
Stripers are right now. If you can catch the right size live bait in the river you can drift with them downstream from the Pickwick Dam and catch big stripers. Early and late in the day you can usually limit out fast on top water baits. During the first couple of hours of daylight you can find stripers along the Pickwick Dam and in the current downstream and several points and different areas along the river channel. The last few trips I have been able to catch stripers busting the surface in front of the Botel on the river channel. I have used the Stirke King Spit N King and jerk baits to catch these busting stripers.
Catfish
Over the past few weeks we have caught several catfish drifting the Dyna-Bites. I like to fish the Dyna-Bites on a size 1 Strike King Whisker Sticker hook with a medium action rod with a once sinker if possible. I hear levers and shad guts are very productive baits as well right now from other catfishermen. While I have been fishing in areas no deeper than 30' I hear a lot of fish are coming out of deeper water.
