    WEISS LAKE IS AT 4 FEET 8 INCHES BELOW FULL POOL AND CLEAR AND 68-70DEGREE'S


    With the drought conditions Weiss Lake is down almost 3 feet below the normallevel for this time of the year. Levels will continue to drop until rainimproves conditions. People with boats, other water-related equipment, andfacilities should be alert to changing conditions on and below Alabama Power lakes,and take the necessary steps to protect their property.


    The Weiss Lake Fish Habitat Enhancement program was completed on September14th 2016 at Yellow Creek. Sponsored by Alabama Power and The Weiss LakeImprovement Association. A BIG thanks to all the Cedar Bluff and Sand Rock HighSchool Fishing Teams volunteer's that helped to make this happen !

    The cooler nights the past few weeks has cooled the water a a lot, and putsome oxygen back in, a lot of Bass have moved shallow, and the Crappie arebiting Great.
    Bass fishing is Good and most fish have moved shallow, and they are beingcaught on Rat L Traps, shallow running flat sided Crank Baits ands SpinnerBaits, and jigs. 20 plus pound stringers have been winning the tournaments allyear, The Bass fishing on Weiss Lake, rivals Lake Guntersville for the last 2years. The Weiss Lake Improvement Association and Weiss Lake Anglers, will bestocking Florida Strain Largemouth on October 24th.
    Crappie fishing is Great and most fish are on the main Coosa River channelledges, in 12-16 feet of water on cover, and they can be caught spider riggingwith live minnows, fished 2-4 feet above the bottom on a drop shot rig. Somefish are being caught under docks in the main lake, shooting jigs, a 1/24 ounceJiffy Jig in colors JJ13 and JJ17 is working great.
    Striper fishing is Poor and there have been no reports of any catches in thelast few weeks. Look for the Stripers to turn on again in late November orearly December.
    Catfish are biting good in the flats on cut bait.
