LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 4.82 FEET, 70’S & CLEAR

Bass fishing is fair. There are lots of shad lake wide. One key thing to know about the shad is that they are small. Lots of newly hatched shad running around so a crank bait or Fish Head Spin will work. Just watch your sonar. Throw the finesse stuff all this weekend as the weather will change conditions overnight. Concentrate in the 20 to 30 foot range for most of your efforts.

Line side fishing is fair. The northerner end of the lake has almost completed turnover, but the fish still want bite. The live bait bite is very slow and is better in the late afternoon. Jig spooning is catching decent numbers of white bass with a few Flathead in the mix and maybe the most consisted. Trolling the umbrella rig bite is probably the best overall bite if you are looking for hybrids and stripers. But look for these fish to be on the smaller size. This week we have been pulling the rigs 75 to 80 feet behind the boat on a 16 to 20 bottom. These fish are on the move, so cover a lot of water. We caught fish as far north as the S turns this week all the south to the dam. Top water bite is DEAD. We have seen very limit top water action this week and most of it seems to be spotted bass. We look for the top water bite to pick up after the lake finishes turning over. We have a few days open for October
