Bass fishing is good and the fish are shallow in the main lake and in the back of the bays. Work main lake points, road beds, humps and flats near the main river channels with shallow running crank baits like the Bandit 100 series. Look for flats with shad working the surface near the main river channels in the main lake from the Cedar Bluff Bridge to the powerhouse lake. The upper Coosa River is also producing some good fish, look for the fish in the mouth of any ditch, channel or creek that cuts off of the main Coosa river channel. Double willow leaf blade spinner baits in chartreuse and white are producing some good fish also. Work these baits on 12 to 14 pound test line. Spotted Bass are being caught on the Coosa; little river and Chattooga river channel ledges in 5 to 10 feet of water, Carolina rigs and crank baits are working well.

Striper fishing is good and the fish are on the edges of the old river channels of the Coosa River and a few are starting to show up in Little River. Live gizzard shad fish on a down line 8 to 10 feet deep over the edges of the river channels is always great technique. A 4 inch curly grub in chartreuse glitter on a 1/4 ounce jig head trolled on 12 pound test line over the river ledges is also producing some good stripers.

Crappie fishing is fair. The fish are on the main Coosa River ledges and a few are starting to be caught on the Little River creek channel ledges, look for more fish to start moving into Little River over the next several weeks. Shooting docks that are on the main Coosa River channel with a 1/24 ounce Jiffy Jig in color JJ13 is still producing some good catches. Use the Jiffy Jigs in colors JJ13 and JJ17, fish this rig 1 to 2 feet above the bottom on the old Coosa River channel in the Bay Springs and Yellow Creek area.

SONAR TIPS: The Lowrance FLASHER mode along with the full LCR Screen, is the old style Flasher. Many anglers still use this function as well as the AMPLITUDE SCOPE. This function allows anglers to watch their bait in the water column.
