    BASS
Bass fishing has been very productive over the last two weeks. We caught bass in large numbers both days and caught several over 3 pounds. Most bass are shallow in grassy areas on flats or in the backs of coves. Fish with a Strike King Spitt'n King top water bait or a Strike King Burner spinnerbait in grassy areas. The grassy areas are all over the lake. I've caught most in secondary coves. Below Pickwick Dam in Kentucky Lake I've caught several smallmouth bass on a Strike King Series 3 with any type of bright color. Make sure to make every cast count by using a rod and reel set up to make the bait the most effective. I use a 7:1 Lews cranking reel and lightweight Lews cranking medium action rod. The lighter action allows the Strike King crank bait and top water bait to perform the best they can. I use Lews 8 pound carbon line on most of these set ups.

Take the time to just set up two of these combinations to catch fish throughout the day.

    White bass
White bass are biting Strike King Series 3 Crank Baits. The best color for them is white with red eyes. The better spots seem to be along rocky banks.
    Stripers
Stipers are less active lately. I've caught more using a Strike King Series 6XD crank bait. We also caught a few drifting live minnows.

    Catfish
Now is the time to go on a catfishing trip. A normal trip could consist of fifty or more fish. If you like catching a lot of fish with the occasional big fish now is the time to go. I have been using live worms in different depths. I have caught them deep but shallower water has produced a few bigger fish for me. You can fish in the still water around the dam with a one once sinker or in the current with a little heaver weight and you should find a good pattern for a large number of fish.

    Sauger
Some people are starting to catch a few sauger already but it is still a little early to count on catching a limit. I am starting to catch a few good sauger on crank baits usually while I am bass fishing.
