Lake Okeechobee is giving up large numbers of bass daily to anglers using large wild shiners. It has been many years since an early season bite has been as hot as it is at this time. Catches of 40 to 50 Bass per morning trip are the norm, with bass in the 7 to 10 lb range being caught with regularity. Ethan and Matt Ziegler from NJ caught 45 bass on their first trip to the Big "O". The caught and released 10 bass over five pounds with a giant 9lb 8oz Okeechobee Swamp Donkey as the big bass of the day! Specks are just starting to show up with anglers catching limits of good zied specks on small jigs in the ell grass and pepper grass areas of underwater vegetation.
