    BASS
With the weather turning cooler it's turning into a feeding frenzy forsmallmouth bass. Two days of fishing in Pickwick added up to somewhere in theneighborhood of 50 smallmouth. This is also the time to catch a trophysmallmouth bass. We've caught several species of other fish while smallmouthfishing in the river below Pickwick Dam. Every fish has came off the same setup, a Strike King Series 3 crank bait. The Series 3 needs to be on the rightrod and reel in order to perform properly, I use a Lews cranking rod and reelwith Lews 8pd fluorocarbon line. This has been the perfect set up tocontinuously catch fish.

    Stripers

Rock fish are scattering out away from the Dam now. Look for them aroundDiamond Island or farther down stream. Take a deep diving Stike King Series 6Crank Bait and troll it along different depths in different areas and when youcatch one you will usually find plenty of fun in that isolated area working itover and over.

    Catfish
On the last few trips I was able to drift in 15' of water around the Boteland catch as many fish as I could stand to clean. Using a heavy sinker on athree way swivel or a Carolina rig worked well with nightcrawlers.

    Sauger
I hope we have a good sauger fishing season this winter. It's been agreat year for Bass, White Bass and Catfish so as they die down we will needsomething to catch. Although it does not seems as exciting, sauger fishing is alot of fun and challenging. I will find out more as the weather getscooler.
