WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 6.4 FEET, CLEAR & 60’S

Bass fishing is slow. The cold front will slow them a few days but this will rebound as the bait starts to school up in larger tighter schools. This is where the Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan technology will pay off. Anglers will see these bait schools from great distances cutting the search time way down. Yellow Jacket Creek seems to be the most reliable place to get a bite. The creek ledges just out from the marina and the ditches are yielding some good catches. The 1/2 ounce Hopkins Short’s jigged around the 20 foot mark seem to be the best route. Hybrids will be active on this bait too. Also, try drop shotting a green finesse worm right on the ledges. The cold water temperatures of last week has been the culprit. Some sunny days may get the fish going since this is a shallow lake.

Marker 81, 33 07 309 085 06 387 Marker 81 on the river. Just below this marker is a point and a creek on the left going up the lake. Fish this for 300 yards and there are stumps and old wood all the way to the back of the creek.
