Scott Patton Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report 12-12-16
Lake Okeechobee has already showing some good early winter fishing. There’s lots of fish moving in to take advantage of the full moons during December January and February. I have been catching numbers of fish on artificial and bigger fish on wild shiners.

Theres has been a better early to mid day bite for me and I’m catching more fish relating to Hydrilla and Eel grass. Top water (Lucky Crafts Kelly J and Splash tail in white patterns have been best for me; some fish are coming on white spinnerbaits also. Around mid day I’ve had to go to a white ZOOM super fluke to get consistent bites, fishing it weightless.

I have also caught fish flipping the hydrilla mattes with a 1 ½ to 2 ounce Pro Tungsten (protungsten.com) and a ZOOM Z craw in black and blue using Seaguar Braid. These fish have been better quality fish in the mattes. This is another pattern to use when the sun is high.

Lake Okeechobee is only going to get better so make sure to book your winter fishing trips soon.
