| Bass fishing is slow as the shallow water is still cold from the cold blast of winter. With the weeks warm up it is hard to beat a jerk bait. Be sure to use the suspending models to get these sluggish fish to bite. Mystics are best baits and try a few different colors as the fish can see these baits in the clear water. These bait run about 4 feet deep and fish them around the creek bends. As the day progresses, move into the creeks and watch the temperature gauge closely. Any slight change can trigger the bite. So, we will need a lot of sun for this to set them into motion. A jig and eel can still produce a few fish up the rivers in the cuts after the sun warms the water later in the day. Zoom Bush Hogs on a pegged Texas rig may work on the grass beds but be sure to use a heavy weight to get though the grass. If there is a warm up next week, get the weights off the baits and look in the sandy areas for small bass to start roaming around. |
