LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 6.6 FEET, 50’S & CLEAR

Bass fishing is good. Bass are feeding and the spawn should be underway within the next few weeks. This is the time of year that whatever your favorite made his chances are bass are eating it. Right now numbers are up. We are catching fish on spinner baits jerk baits Alabama rigs and crank baits. The spinnerbait has been great for main lake points, but a breeze is needed to enhance the bite. The A Rig tipped with 3.5 inch big bite cane thumpers is being uses whenever a school of fish is located. Slow reel it. The jerk bait is one of the best search baits. The Spro McStick in ghost minnow fished vigorously is a fun way to fill a limit. Fish are still scattered but are becoming more consistent. Keep an eye out for schooling fish. They are spastic, the action is great when they come up chasing.

Line side fishing is good. Spring is here and we all know what that means its spawning time. The white bass are already staging for the spawn run. The Hybrids and Stripers will be shorty behind them. With the unseasonable warm winter we are looking for a STRONG run up both the Etowah and Liver River this year. Since the whites run first be sure to carry your light gear. Spinning gear spool with 8 pound fluorocarbon tip with a Rooster Tail, crappie jig or a tiny fluke is the ticket. Once the stripers start showing up you better break out your bigger gear. Live and cut shad fished on the bottom is the way to go. Fish sandy bottoms, bends in the rivers and deep holes. If you’re like me and the river isn't your thing. The main lake can and does give up good numbers and big fish even when the run is at its peak. Springtime is shad time on the big water. Thread fin shad fished on free lines, planner boards and down lines can produces big numbers. But if you are after a big girl then you need to be patience and pull big gizzards on free lines and planner boards. The Little River area along with the Allatoona Creek arm would be good starting points for both numbers of hybrids and big stripers.
