Scott Patton Fishing report for Kentucky Lake
    4-12-17

    Water Temp 64
    Lake level 357.69

The fishing has been good and still catching some fish on my Lucky Craft 1.5 and 2.5, also some fish on ZOOMs 5” swimmers swim baits and a chatter bait in the creeks.

The lake is getting close to summer pool and that will put the water into the yellow flowers that has grown really good due to the early warm weather we’ve had. The bass and bait will be moving in the flowers soon, if we don’t get high water into the bushes this year the bass will be spawning in the flowers.

I will be fishing ZOOMs swim baits and spinnerbaits in the flowers. Also I will be flipping the flowers hoping to get a baby brush hog or ZOOMs Z hog on a nest. I will use a Pro tungsten 3/8 weight most of the time but if it a dead calm day with no wind I will go to a ¼. I prefer to flip my baits in the flowers on 25 lb Seaguar fluorocarbon and a Lews flipping stick. You will want to pay close attention a spawning fish can pick up the bait with the slightest of pressure and that’s where my Pro Tungsten weights come into play. They are so much more sensitive than lead and I can detect these really light bites.

I will fish as many areas as possible early because spawning fish are a lot more aggressive early in the morning during low light. I also like to rig a ZOOM lizard on a 1/8 ounce Pro Tungsten on 20 lb Seaguar and slowly swim the lizard thru the flowers. If a bass strikes and misses then I will flip my brush hog in the area, more than likely there is a bed there.
