BASS FISHING REPORT MARCH 28, 2017

Current Lake Level - 712 Ft.
    Current Water Temp - 54 deg. F

I apologize for not posting more reports recently, but I honestly hadn't caught enough fish to post one and I refuse to give out false information. I do have good news this week though. We finally put the puzzle together. We caught good fish this past week and a lot of them. Since I was having trouble getting anything solid going for a while, I decided to give the smallies a break and focus on strictly largemouth because they are generally a little easier to pattern. Therefore I don't have any specific info on the smallmouth this week.

Largemouth Bass - There has been a serious movement way back in the creeks into the shallows towards the spawning flats. The gizzard shad are up there around the grass that was growing on the bank that is now under water since they've been bringing the lake level up and the bass are in hot pursuit and feeding up for the spawn.

There is some warmer and dirtier water up shallow and the fish seem to prefer it right now. I caught plenty of fish in clear water also, but there seems to be more, and bigger fish in the muddier water. Not all of the creeks are on the same schedule, so you may have to go back further in some than others. There are still more waves of fish headed there so some are still further out in the creeks, but the best one were definitely shallow. Big fish in big numbers!

Slow rolling a lipless crank or big swim bait produced almost all of our fish however, weather could call for other lures to produce in the near future. The 56 Custom Color Lures lipless crank was the best producer. probably 4-1 over the redeye shad or the booyah. It seems to come through the cover a little better and gave me more chances for a strike. Red craw was better in the dirty water. It produced four fish over 5 Pounds and one over 6. Threadfin shad worked better in the clear water and produced one 5 pounder and several fat 3+ pounders. Slowly working a 5" Big Bite Baits BBkicker picked up some good fish when the fishing slowed down and did produce one 5 pounder.

A BIG thank you to 56 custom color lures! It really made a difference this week!
