LAKE HARTWELL IS DOWN 8.8 FEET, CLEAR, 60’S


Bass fishing is good. The fish are still in all phases some are post spawn some are spawning and still have some pre spawn. Key baits this last week have been a wacky rigged bass pro shops stik o bait when we saw fish on the beds or targeted docks. The second bait was the fluke we would use this bait around docks and points to cover water. Some of the thread fin and hearing have already started spawning on clay and rocky points and this is where the fluke bite really excelled. If the bite slowed down we would switch to a shakey head in the same areas to help get some bites. The lake is really on fire right now so look for a lot of good things to start happening out there. Key for us was to continue to move throughout the day if we didn't get bit within 10 minutes of fishing an area we picked up the trolling motor and moved on. When we got some bites we slowed down and worked the area with several baits before moving on to the next area. We will continue to work these areas throughout the pre and post spawn. With this warmer weather look for the water temperatures to rise quickly and the top water bite to start up quickly. Remember the lake is still low and there are a lot of objects sticking up out of the water and not marked. So be safe out there and we hope to see you on the water.
