Water Temp 65
Lake level 357.63
Fishing on Kentucky Lake has been good, but a angler better keep an open mind fishing the next week or so! The lake was close to a foot over summer pool and I was catching good fish flipping a ZOOM Z Hog and Baby Brush Hog with Cane Craw as a scent. I am flipping a 3/8 Pro Tungsten on Seaguar Braid and 25lb Fluorocarbon.
In the last couple days the lake has dropped over two feet close to three feet. This has made it tough on finding spawning bass in the bushes. The water may come up again if we get enough rain to bring it up again. I really don’t understand why the TVA drops the lake down this low during our spawn but that’s what we’re left to deal with as anglers. I just hope we’ve had enough fish to spawn or the ones that haven’t spawned will still spawn. We will find out in the next ten days or so!
With the lake being as low as it is “right now” I plan to fish top water and spinner baits on the channel banks in the morning, then switching to a jig with a ZOOM Z hog and a shakey head. I will also start looking for bass on the secondary ledges or creek channel leading out of the creeks. I will be fishing Lucky Craft crankbaits on both areas and I will keep an eye out for the shad spawn.
In the larger creeks on the lake I will fish some of the ledges inside the creek itself. Cranking lucky craft crank baits, jigs and a ZOOM swim bait will be my choice of lures.
