  • Indian River Fishing Report - FL

Things arebeginning to calm down as summer arrives on the Treasure Coast. Morningshave been beautiful with winds picking up in the afternoons. Chances ofafternoon rains will increase as the temperatures warm up. It's a wonderfultime of year to live here! Boats have been heading offshore on thesecalmer days to catch cobia, dolphin and many other species. Expect lotsof boat traffic on these good weather days.
The inshore bitewas a little slower last week with the rains cooling down the waterlately. We have been catching a good variety of species. Snook, mackerel, jacks, ladyfish and many others have been on the catch list. Andy, Dave and Dan were here last week fishing the area. The guys caughtsnook, mackerel, bonito, bluefish and jacks on a somewhat slow bite for theday. Keith and Cai were out for a short trip. Cai just missed agood snook that startled her when it blasted her bait. George, Matt, Wardand Bob had a good day with mackerel, jacks, snapper and assorted other specieson their adventure. With the full moon over soon, the bite will get backto normal. It was a fun week on the water!
The trout biteshould be picking up soon. Look for grassy flats to find the trout. Try the DOA Deadly Combo when searching for trout on the grass flats. Atfirst light try a top water lure as well. Redfish should be hangingaround docks and mangroves. Try live bait or a DOA shrimp when fishingfor reds. Snook have been around bridges, docks and the jetties. Most anglers have been using pilchards when fishing for snook this time ofyear. Mackerel, jacks and bonito have been coming into the river with thetides. Small shiny jigs work best for them. Fish your lures fast!
With summer warmingup things around the area, it's important to take a few minutes and slather onthe sunscreen to keep from getting burned. How you take care of yourselfin the sun can affect you later in life! Keep hydrated and enjoy thefishing on the Treasure Coast!

As always, remember, fishing is not just another hobby....it's an ADVENTURE!!
    Good Fishing and BeSafe,
