LAKE ALLATOONA IS FULL, 80’S, CLEAR

This Lake Allatoona Bass fishing report is by Matt Driver

Bass fishing has been good, even though we had a few slow days this past week, but is definitely getting better. Several good fish being caught on Jig head finesse worms and small jigs. Shallow to mid depth brush has been key. There is also some schooling activity just before dark. We have been catching them on big bite jerk minnows and spy baits. The water is clear main lake/south and has a slight stain to it on the north end toward the river. If you plan to go early in the morning, a small Zara spook, or a Popper style top water bait is a fun option till around 9 AM. The bite will slow drastically after that, and spots of shade will become good targets.

Line side fishing is good. The bite that was so strong mid lake is starting to slow down compare to last week due to the full moon. The fish are starting to move off the flats and humps and are starting to school out over the river and creek channels. This week we have caught fish as deep as 50 feet. Down lining live bait is your best bet right now. Look for these big schools to start to move south as the water warms into the mid eighty's. Top water is Slow!!!! There is limited top water action right at sun up. But you have to be in the right place at the right time. It really isn't worth targeting yet. Trolling is fair at best, but should heat up in the upcoming weeks.
