    THE BIG BITE IS ON!

Please meet the fishing team from Louisville, KY..from right to left: Zach Howard , John Robert Harris , J J Holtfeeter , Andrew Taylor, Jeremy Anderson, and Matt Anderson! And up front is Captain Kathy Brown of, you guessed it, Miss Judy Charters. Each fisherman is holding either Spanish mackerel or blue fish! What did the fish they eat? 0 and OO Clark Spoons! What did they fishermen eat while visiting Fly Fish Restaurant? A darn fine just caught fish meal!

Jeff Poulin Loudowici, Georgia holding a nice Spanish mackerel and of course Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters is giving her thumbs up approval!

    Spanish mackerel Report!
Trolling at the near shore artificial reefs has been ON one day and OFF the next.

For a while it was a bonus for all of us over here at Miss Judy Charters especially when in the trolling for mackerel mode. I guess you could say, “We got too used to a solid mackerel bite and then it happened, it stopped!” As I have been reporting the bottom fish at the artificial reefs from 400 to 55 feet of water has been very slow. The fact of the matter is it is darn slow. So therefore trolling for mackerel was what we would do on our shorter trips. Well, for the last couple of week the term fishing instead of catching came to mind! So I wanted to change it to catching but I had best leave it to the standard line of fishing! What is the meaning of fishing? The sport or business of catching fish, but if they don’t bite then it truly is call fishing!

    Savannah Snapper Banks
This is the place that the fish always seem to be biting. It is true when I say, “Drop your hook, catch a fish, re-bait, drop your hook, catch a fish, and repeat!

While offshore fishing with Captain Kennickell of Miss Judy Charters Ken Lee Thompson caught this nice gag grouper!

While offshore fishing with Captain Kennickell of Miss Judy Charters Larry Jones caught this nice amberjack also known as “reef donkey!” Why? Because these fish are known for schooling up in the water column over the ledge changing water depths at anytime. I guess you could say, “These fish do a lot of just donkey-ing around!”

While offshore fishing with Captain Kennickell of Miss Judy Charters Ken Lee Thompson caught this nice pair of vermilion snapper sometimes referred as footballs! What kind of bait was Lee using? Small pieces diced of squid wing. Who perfected this style of bait? Captain Deidra Helmey Jeffcoat of Miss Judy Charters! What is vermilion’s favorite food? The answer would be jelly fish! I bet you thought I was going to say, “Squid!”

While offshore fishing with Captain Kennickell of Miss Judy Charters Clint Lynch caught this nice amberjack! In the background we have Larry Jones on the hunt for another big fish and Captain Ken is assisting!
