  • Dog days of summer Lake Okeechobee!

Living on Lake Okeechobee provides us with a very unique advantage, we have learned the patterns that the fish follow throughout every season on the calendar. It ia a great time to fish with a spinnerbia tin the multitude of Kissimmee grass lines that populate lake Okeechobees shorelines. During the "Dog Days" of summer is is essential that you are on the water and at your fishing hole when it is just starting to get light, the shad are migrating and the bass use the early morning periods to feed heavily on the newly hatched shad, and a double willow leaf spinnerbait imitates shad exactly. Every morning varies but some day we will catch 15 bass before they quit, many day we will catch 30 to 50 bass and have the time of our life. Once the fish quit chasing shad a slower presentation is need and that's when we switch to a senko with no weight in watermelon or black with blue/fleck and continue catching. A flipping or pitching presentation is deadly for bigger fish use a crature bait with a heavy pegged sinker and get it deep into the thickest nastiest places you can find to catch old bucket lips. This past week we are averaging 25 to 35 fish per early morning guide trips, come see us. Visit our web page at
