Night fishing on Lake Fork has been inconsistent. On my last 4 trips, I had one awesome night, one good night, and 2 terrible nights. Welcome to summer bass fishing! One trip, we went 6 hours without a bass. The next trip, our best 5 went over 30 pounds. That's summer fishing! Water temps have been like bath water. On my last trip, we got a 10 pounder around 2AM (yes, a 10 pounder in late July) - and the water temp was 88 degrees. That was after a rain and cool front, with air temps in the lower 70s. Night time water temps have been ranging mostly from 88 to 92 degrees. That's without any sun! Put your hand in the water on a cool night and if feels like bath water.

On the nights without any wind, the bugs have been a lot more active than the bass, especially just after dark - and around the trees. But after about an hour, the bugs get full and aren't so bothersome. On the nights with a breeze, it has been very pleasant all night long. You can count on comfortable temps at some point every night of the summer. That is one thing that is consistent! Nighttime air temps are between 65 and 85 all summer long. When the water temps get in the 90s, the bass don't feed as often. So, you should lower your expectations and try not to get frustrated if you don't get as much action (I'm preaching to myself here). The bass still have to eat at some point. Just realize you may have to put in more hours to get the same amount of action as May and June.
The lake is still pretty full. It's almost August and only 6 inches low. But it isn't easy to navigate. Most of the stumps are hidden, so you can't see where to run. Many of the trees with reflectors are still underwater. And now that it is back down 6 inches, many of the stumps are just under the surface. I do a lot of idling through stump fields, and I'm hitting a lot more stumps than I was just a couple of weeks ago. So be careful when traveling the lake.

I haven't been fishing much before dark, so most of the fish I've been catching have been less than 15 feet deep. I've been doing the best around sundown and after midnight. My best baits have been jigs, worms, craws, crankbaits, spoons, and swimbaits. Just before dark, my best depth is 15 to 20 feet. After dark, my best depth has been 7 to 12 feet.

The summer slowdown is a perfect time for me to mention that we have a family business doing various computer work. We specialize in programming websites with databases (PHP, Coldfusion, ASP.net, MSSQL, MYSQL, JQUERY, CSS, C#, AJAX, Bootstrap), but we can do just about anything you need. Whether you need a new website, or you just need to update your current website to integrate with social media and look good on all devices - we can do it. We can do Photoshop graphic work (logos, brochures, business cards, etc.) - or we can even take your Gopro footage and put together video clips. We have low overhead and no beaurocracy. So, we can often finish a project in the time it takes to get most projects started - at a much lower price. Contact whitefamilyservices.com at 214-549-4644 and let us enhance your business.

I try to post pictures to my Facebook page every trip. So keeping up with that page is a much better report than what I can do in front of my computer at home. If you follow my Facebook page (actually, the Facebook term is "like"), you can get my posts without delay. I often post pictures the day we catch them. So if you see several big fish in the same day, you can rest assured the fishing is good then. If you wait until I post a fishing report, you can be sure that it has slowed down enough for me to leave the lake. Go to www.Facebook.com/LakeForkFishingGuide and click the "like" option to get the posts. Go to any page on www.bassfishing.org and you will find the feed

I appreciate your honesty. Some guides on here will report the bite being on fire when they are barely catching. I can't stand the used car salesman approach. It gives us all a bad name and leave perspective clients gun shy about hiring.
