Captain Deidra Jeffcoat of Miss Judy Charters is holding up Anita Goodrum of Eupora, Mississippi’s just caught gag grouper. What did it hit? Live ruby red lips rigged on a Carolina style bottom rig. What did that do with the fish? Let’s see the family planned of having grouper fingers and blackened grouper fillets over at the Flying Fish Restaurant, located in Savannah Georgia! Where the motto here is “You catch them we cook them!”

Captain Ken Kennickell of Miss Judy Charters is holding a nice genuine red snapper that Haley McCrory age 15 Madison Goodrum age 15 caught and fought together! Both were visiting with their families from Eupora, Mississippi. Since red snapper season is closed this fine looking bottom fish was released unharmed back to the wild! No fish fingers possibilities here!

Before making way to the Savannah Snapper Banks it is always a good idea to try and catch some bait! Why? When bottom fishing this is the kind of bait that triggers an otherwise slack nonchalant bite! In other words, when this type of bait, the fish strikes before it thinks!

Please meet Dr Brad Durham and his wife JO! Their offshore fish day started out pretty normally with sea conditions that they could stand up in. With Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters assisting Jo and Brad has a fun time catching live bait! What kind of bait are they catching? Spanish sardines and cigar minnows!

The top bait is a Spanish sardine also known as “the diamonds” and the bottom is a cigar minnows. Why do we call Spanish Sardines ““the diamonds?” Once caught and while hooked up as bait they are continuously shedding their sliver scales, which are like calling cards for fish! If you don’t believe me, once introduced into your live well; check out the bottom. It will be lined with diamonds better known as Spanish sardine scales! Heck, the best news is as they shed they are still very lively! The cigar minnow is the type of bait that can camouflage itself quickly! Cigar minnows are normally, when not in the camouflage mode, are sliver in color and very appealing to all types of larger fish. However, when under stress or fear this is their go to colors.

    GO BANNANAS!
Dr. Brad Durham his holding up a nice amberjack that he caught while we were grouper fishing!

Jo is holding up a nice black jack, which surprisingly is one of those fish that really offers up a strong fight! !

What is Jo and Brad doing? Both are fighting a fish and the rough sea conditions at the same time! Did they complain? No! Did that have a good time! Yes! Was it an adventure? Yes for sure!

What is this? Dr. Brad is doing one heck of job advertising for Hell’s Bay boat works!

Dr Brad Durham and Jo are having a “reel them in” kind of a day! Was it over the top rough ocean on their fish day? YES! Did they complain? NO they did not! This duo fished in unbelievable rough sea conditions and still had a great time! What are they? TRUE FISHERMEN!

Jo and Captain Kathy Brown were showing off their colorful bottom fish catch! Jo is holding a vermilion snapper and Captain Kathy is holding a speckle hind! (Sometimes referred to as a strawberry grouper and Kitty Mitchell, and calico)

The Corey, Meredith, Dylan, and Jacob Childers Family Catching Affair!
Dylan Childers Cartersville, Georgia and his father Corey and younger brother Jacob are doing their bait catching part. Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters is doing her best trying to pick up and take them off as fast as she can.

Captain Kathy Brown of Miss Judy Charters is holding up Dylan Childers’s just caught trigger fish!

Jacob childers Caterville, Georiga and father Corey caught, fought, and release this reef shark. We thought this was the big shark of the day. However, Jacob’s older brother Dylan proved that there is always a bigger fish in the sea!

Meredith Childers Cartersville, Georgia is holding up a double header! What is a double header? Trigger fish on the top hook and legal black fish on the bottom! Both are keepers and both are great to eat! This is Meredith first time with the family on my boat! I am so glad that she is enjoying herself! And she can fish too!

Captain Kathy and Jacob Childers Caterville, Georgia are holding up a nice white grunt sometimes referred to as a hog nose snapper.

And just when we didn’t think that Dylan wasn’t going to hook up the biggest shark he certainly did! Dylan’s father Corey is assisting and I are watching with gloves on ready to work the long leader.

After about 30 minutes into the fish fight Jacob gave his brother Dylan a pat on the back while saying, “Good job!”

When Dylan brought his big shark to the boat we all knew at once why it was taking so long. The reason being is that “this is on big shark!” Yes the shark was unharmed and released back to the wild! What does this mean to you? More shark bites will most likely happen!

This is a closer top side view of Dylan’s shark. Hey, look at the broad shoulders on this fish!

Meredith Childers, Cartersville, Georgia is showing us her signature fish catching smiles! We hope to see you all again soon!
