Summer is in full swing and like normal striper fishing is just about as good as it gets. The lake is a little higher than normal for this time of year due to all of the recent rains. The most productive striper fishing for me has been on the main lake fishing 50 to 75 ft deep. Alewife herring has been the best bait as always fished on planer boards or just down lines. As fall gets closer stripers will go deeper and deeper and more fish will move toward the dam. I have personally caught more big fish in the last 2 weeks than I have in what seems like 5 years. I attribute most of it to a very understanding and willing to adapt biologist. The 22 inch size limit has truly enabled larger fish to grow again in the lake. Rather than killing 23 inch fish in the fall we now keep them and stop fishing when limit is met. That allows many more fish to survive for the following years. We are truly blessed to have a department of fish and wildlife willing to adapt to the conditions. Thanks you.
Hope to see you on the water.
God Bless
