LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 5.7 FEET, 70’S, CLEAR

Bass fishing is fair. Early morning the crank bait bite with a Rapala DT 6 or Rapala DT 10 is good and hot mustard and shad are working off rocky points and cuts. Just be sure you are hitting the bottom with your crank and cover some real estate. This pattern will get a lot stronger especially during this colder weather. The Senko bite is fair with the small baits in green pumpkin working. The spinnerbait bite is fair with a Mini Me with all white blades and skirts working best. Spend a little time looking at the points and underwater islands with the Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan technology to find baitfish in these area before fishing. This will help narrow down where the fish are. Mid day until dark go to the drop shot. Use a 3 inch tiny fluke or a 3.5 inch Cut Tail or the 4.5 inch Yamamoto Flat Tail in blue pearl color or any kind of bait fish color on a #4 drop shot hook with a ¼ ounce quick drop tear shaped drop shot weight.

Line side fishing is good. The north end of the lake is still producing some nice stripers along with good numbers of white bass. The bigger stripers are eating gizzard shad fished on planer boards and free lines both right at sun up and again at sun down. Look for these fish from Little River up to Fields Landing and as far south as Kellogg Creek. The hybrids and white bass are really starting to school and blowing up all over the lake right now. We have seen some big schools breaking the surface from the Dam to the S turns. These busting fish will eat almost anything you throw at them. Trolling is good so pull umbrella rigs 60 to 120 feet behind the boat at speeds between 2.4 to 3.1 miles per hour.
