  • Lake Allatoona Fishing Report - GA

LAKE ALLATOONA IS DOWN 14.8 FEET, 50’S, CLEAR

Bass fishing is good. A typical Allatoona weather pattern is to be expected. Lots of fish suspended and can be caught on, drop shot, float and fly and The Alabama rig. Lowrance structure Scan and Down Scan technology can make finding the bait and the fish easier. There have also been quite a few fish shallower to mid depth that being caught on Shad Raps and lipless cranks. Last weekend took around 15 pounds to win the local tournament. Areas from Victoria to just above little river have been really good lately. As long as the weather stays consistent we should see this bite stay stable and good. As we write this report, we see very cold temperatures in the forecast. If so, the Float n Float and Fly bite will only get better. Look for clear water and a slight breeze blowing in on the lakes many bluff banks for the best results. And lastly, a great bait for multi species is the half ounce spoon. Spotted bass, hybrid, and white bass all love the spoon. Look for these schools in longer creeks in 15 to 25 foot of water. Fish areas from Stamps Creek north to Little River. Have fun and never fish alone this time of year because hypothermia can be a killer. We are looking at another very cold weather front to come through this week. Air temperatures are going to drop fast and this will bring very high pressure to the south. Fish will be very inactive with this weather.

The Bass Fishing report is from Matt Driver.

This Lake Allatoona fishing guides report for striper and hybrid has been brought to you exclusively by Robert Eidson of First Bite Guide Service, 770 827 6282. www.firstbiteguideservice.com Lake Allatoona, Georgia email: eidson6260@comcast.net.

Line side fishing is fair. The snow storm really drop the water temperature and stain muddy the north end of the lake, but is still holding a ton of fish mostly white bass and small Hybrids. These fish have been picky. But they will still eat live bait and will take a spoon as well Look for these fish north of Galts Ferry. Mid lake is where you want to be if you are looking for stripers. Bartow Carver to the dam is the place to be for stripers and bigger schools of hybrids. These fish are wanting to eat big baits so go with jumbo threadfins, gizzard shad and if you don't have shad, trout will work. We are going by Striper soup and picking up a couple of dozen gizzards if you are looking for a bigger fish. Also, we have had good luck with mid lake pulling umbrella rigs the last few times out. These fish have moved out of the river channel and up on the edge of it. Look for these fish to be in water 20 to 40 deep. Use your Lowrance to locate the fish on the sides of the humps and then drop a spoon into them. Find the bait and use the Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan technology to cut the search time. Once you find the shad fish a ˝ ounce Flex It spoon on 10 pound test line on a medium action rod. Expect the live bait bite to really ramp up once the water temperatures stabilize. This time of the year you need to be open minded on your techniques. Top water, trolling, spooning and live bait can all work this time of year, but what worked yesterday may not work tomorrow. Take the kitchen sink with you when heading out to the pond this time of year.
