Inshore cold water now fishing report!
You noticed I titled this Inshore Cold Water Fishing Report!! Even as water temperatures went from 61 to below 50 our inshore bite continued to amazing us. However, the bad news was some days the bite was better even thought the conditions did not change. Our Captains along with our inshore customers braved windy/rainy conditions and still had some pretty good luck. Once again for those that didn’t make in this report, but did fish, the bite was very unpredictable for sure. When someone would asked are they biting? My standard answer was yes, but with currents conditions changing every 10 or so hours who knows what them fish are going to do! And believe me when I say, “They did exactly what they wanted when they wanted!” Isn’t that just like a fish!

Our inshore captains used everything from live/dead shrimp to mud minnows to cut fish to finger mullet to artificial soft lures to fiddlers. Sometimes certain bait would work better than the other, but only for the moment! All that is left to say, “It’s winter here, which brings on a strange inshore bite pattern.” As you can see from the pictures below: The fish did bite sometimes, but not all of the time!

While inshore fishing in windy rainy conditions this fishing team did quite well! Were they cold? Were they wet? Yes did the fish or the fishermen care? NO!

Well, first we have a group of family members visiting Savannah relatives for Christmas. Of the many that we all here, 8 (see above) decided that they want to go inshore fishing. Quite a few of them have been with Captain Matt before, but since his boat will only accommodate up to four passengers, we brought Captain Tommy Williams in on the would be fish catching ordeal! So, here’s what we ended up with, two sets of four fishing machines! Now they caught lots of fish and under very bad conditions. It was raining, it was cold, and even when the rain stopped there was no sunshine to be seen. So it looked like it was going Storm or snow all day, but it didn’t. All it did was blow and when it rained, blew rain everywhere. But did these guys want to stop fishing? NO and they didn’t!

When they called me to come down and take pictures I had no idea that they had caught so many fish. Heck, and according to the captains, this is what they brought home the rest was caught, fought, and released!

This is only what the two boat team kept not what they caught! The rest is still swimming strong! What’s on the table? Sheepshead, black drum, spotted sea trout, red fish, whiting, and flounder. All of these fish were caught in fifty degree water temperature and falling!

Please meet Kevin Hershberger Millersburg, Ohio and his just caught soon to be released 35” cold water trophy red fish! While inshore fishing with Captain Kevin Rose of Miss Judy Charters fisherman Kevin did a fine job of hooking up, playing, and landing this red fish! What was the bait used? It was a mud minnow presented under a Harper Super Striker Cork (pictured in the back ground) Once this fish took notice of Kevin’s bait it waited for the right time to strike and of course it is plain to see, so did the fisherman that’s is holding the fish!

Greg Schlabach Columbus, Ohio is holding a nice 26 inch trophy red fish that he caught while inshore fishing with Captain Kevin Rose of Miss Judy Charters. This wasn’t his first fish; he caught fought and landed a few more of these cold water reds.

I told you he caught more...Greg Schlabach Columbus, Ohio is holding another red fish that he landed while fishing with Captain Kevin Rose of Miss Judy Charters.

While fishing in unusually cold windy conditions with Captain Tommy Williams of Miss Judy Charters Taten Emigh Atwood, KS age 13 fought caught and released this nice trophy red fish! While talking with Taten I found out some pretty interesting thing about one of his hobbies. He shows pigs and steers at the 4-H Club. Taten has done quite well with all of this responsibility and his stock continues to place in high regards!

While inshore fishing with Captain Tommy Williams of Miss Judy Charters Chad Samson Atwood, KS caught this nice sheepshead! Captain Tommy had to get out the big net!
