LAKE GEORGE IS DOWN .4 FEET, 60’S
Bass fishing is barely fair. The cold weather continues to push the water temps down and the fish even deeper. The fish are hovering together tight in schools around about 26 feet of water. It may dragging a Carolina rig to get bit for some small keepers. Most of the fish are in the channel bends off ledges with fast drops and jigging spoons and drop shot rigs will work if there is no wind. Look for the fish with the Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan technology. The Down Scan can see fish lying dead on the bottom and cover four times more water than 200 kHz soar. Try a small 4" tube bait in green pumpkin and work down a stretch of ledge near Cowikee Creek. When you see the brush, just stop and slowly drag the Carolina rig through it. The bites will be sluggish because the water is cold.
We have another very cold weather front this week. Air temperatures are very cold and the fish will react to the weather by not feeding and relating the heavy structure with the very cold temperatures and high pressure. Any warm water you can find can have active bass. They still have to eat.
