LAKE GEORGE IS DOWN .4 FEET, 50’S

Bass fishing is setting up for some early spring action once we get some warm weather. Lake Eufaula is at full pool and water temperature ranges from 49 to 52 degrees. Although the water is rather cold, fishing is good. With the water level as high as it is, flooded grass is the ticket. On warm days, moving baits such as spinnerbaits and shallow diving crankbaits work fine. However, should we have colder days the jig and Senko bite has been good. Lure color strictly depends on water clarity, which is variable across the lake. If you prefer fishing deep structure, creek and river ledges in the 18 to 20 foot range are holding some fish. Use the Lowrance technology and spend the day fishing this type of structure, and the fish are ready to eat. For the next few weeks, the fishing will all be dependent upon the weather. If it is warm for 2 or 3 days, the shallow bite will turn on. If it gets colder or if the Corps drops the water level, more fish will move to the ledges. The bass will move to deep points with the very cold weather. Use the Lowrance Sonar and be very mindful if the water temperatures. Look for the fish with the Lowrance Structure Scan and Down Scan technology. The Down Scan can see fish lying dead on the bottom and cover four times more water than 200 kHz soar. If a few days of warm weather rolls in and the sun stays out this can trigger movement. Structure can be a major factor so understand the Navionics mapping is essential. Carefully studying contours, drops, ledges, sharp points and surrounding terrain while keeping the electronics and the other on your GPS helps find the right depth and structure. During cold weather days, prey and predator alike congregate in tight schools and stay in somewhat the same areas. Use the jigging spoon for any fishing and fish right over the fish.
