LAKE SEMINOLE IS DOWN .8 FEET, CLEAR & 50’S BY MATT BATY

Bass fishing is excellent. The fish are in full blown pre spawn mode and can be found in ditches, drains, grass lines and depressions that are near sandy spawning areas. The two single best techniques that are happening right now are fishing a lipless crankbait and a bladed jig. The cold weather has knocked the hydrilla way back so you'll need to use your Lowrance Electronics and Structure scan to find and locate the grass flats that have the hydrilla growing about 3 4 feet from the top. With the Lowrance units, you can also easily see schools of bass that are on top of the grass. Once you find it, just comb the flat until you find little groups of fish. For the lipless crankbait I have 2 different setups. We use a Jenko Fishing Rip Knocker 75 in Flaming Craw on 50lb Sunline Braid and 16lb Sunline Fluorocarbon. We use a Lews Custom Pro Speed Spool with an 8:3:1 Gear Ratio paired with a 7'3" medium heavy fast action Buddha Stick. Depending on how thick the grass is we switch between the braid and the fluorocarbon. For the bladed jig, use a 3/8 and a 1/2 ounce Buddha Baits Swagger Jig in Green Pumpkin with a 4" Big Bite Baits Cane Thumper in Green Pumpkin. The bladed jig setup works best on a 7:5:1 Lews Magnesium reel, 16 pound Sunline FC Sniper, and a 7'6" medium heavy fast action Buddha Stick. As the warm weather approaches look for the bass to move up on the sand especially during sunny days.
