Lake Cumberland fishing report for aug 28 th 2013. The summer season is winding down and the best fishing season is starting up. Fall fishin on lake Cumberland is usually really good for most species. The striper fishin has been as good as it gets for a solid month with most days having a limit about the time the sun peaks over the hills. We are fishin alewife herring from 45 to 80 feet deep on main lake points and channel breaks. The last month has yielded some of the biggest fish of the year with several fish around 36 inches which is a big improvement from last couple of years. No doubt the lake is on it's way back to what it was before.
The walleye fishing has also been decent jigging spoons on points from 20 to 32 ft deep. The crappie fishing has been really good under lights fished at night. Either jigs or live minnows have been the best bet. Get out and enjoy some beautiful fall fishing that is coming up. God bless and take a kid fishing!!
