LAKE HARTWELL IS FULL, CLEAR, 60’S

Bass fishing is good. There are a lot of bass shallow lake wide. Some bass have already spawned and others were preparing to before the recent cold front slowed the process. But the majority of fish are still very shallow. Medium to large spinner baits were catching lots of quality fish just before the front passed and the same baits should again be good in a day or two. Use a try a 3/8 or ½ ounce Stanley Wedge double Colorado in chartreuse white with gold blades. No trailer. Although some fish can be caught on the shallow banks of the main rivers and creeks, the majority are in the coves and shallow bays. Try to hit every potential target like blow downs, brush, dock posts, stumps and any shallow wood. If bites are being missed, try using a trailer hook or downsizing to a 1/8 or ¼ ounce bait. Another good tactic is to fire a Zoom Super Fluke in baby bass on a 3/0 offset worm hook. A weightless Trick worm or weighted Texas rig worm can also do the job. Some anglers are also doing well with a weightless Trick worm as the primary bait. This rig normally works best with a #5 crane swivel about 8 inches above the worm on a Gamakatsu EWG 3/0 hook. Small crank baits like a Rapala #4 Shad Rap RS or ¼ ounce Rat L Trap can be fished in between visible targets. Try fire tiger, chrome blue, and gold black.
